1 pound of flank steak
1 onion
1 red bell pepper
2 TBSP of chili flake
1 TBSP of minced garlic
2 TBSP vinegar
Marinade
1tsp of white pepper (black pepper substitute)
1 TBSP of soy sauce
1 egg
1/4 tsp baking soda
3 TBSP of cornstarch
Sauce
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of hoisin sauce
2 TBSP of ketchup
3 TBSP sriracha
3 TBSP oyster sauce
1/2 cup of water
1 TBSP of a cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce (a slurry is just water with equal parts cornstarch)
Cut your steak into strips and combine all marinade ingredients and set aside in the refrigerator for one hour
Combine all your sauce ingredients in a separate bowl and mix until well combined
Cut up your onion and red bell pepper into thick chunks
Take the marinated steak out of the refrigerator and dust 3 TBSP of cornstarch over the mixture
Shallow fry the beef in a medium heat pan with neutral oil fry for about (4mins) fry in batches, remove when finished and set to the side
remove the oil and sauté the minced garlic, onions, and bell peppers to the pan (sauté for 3 minutes)
Add the steak back into the pan
Add the sauce and 2 TBSP of vinegar
Cover and reduce for 2 minutes
